Rivers Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) says it would continue to strengthen collaborations on areas of common interest geared towards improving land transportation in the State.
The state sector commander, Corps Commander Salisu Galadunci, disclosed this on Sunday in Port Harcourt during a visit by the command to the Rivers State Commissioner of Transportation, Mr Osima Ginah.
Galadunci, during the visit, congratulated the commissioner on the recent inauguration of the Bonny – Nembe Jetty.
According to him, the project would go a long way to ease water transportation on Rivers and Bayelsa routs.
“His Excellency, Gov. Nyesom Wike has recorded a giant stride in the water transport sector.
“By upgrading the Bonny-Nembe Jetty to a modern facility, the government has indeed met the yearnings of the riverine dwellers.
“This project which has gulped several millions of naira is indeed people-oriented, it would boost water transport for the people of Rivers and Bayelsa states,” he added.
The Sector Commander was accompanied during the visit by State Coordinator of Special Marshals, Dr. John Ugbebor, his deputy, Sector Head and the Premium Center Officer of the command.
In his response, Ginah disclosed the ministry’s readiness to identify with the command on programmes that would continue to better road transport in the state.
