The Rivers State Government has declared that it is early to comment on the presidential proclamation of a state of emergency in the state.

In a nationwide broadcast on Tuesday, President Bola Tinubu suspended Rivers State Governor Sir Siminialayi Fubara, his deputy, Prof. Ngozi Nma Odu, and members of the State House of Assembly.

When contacted immediately following the president’s statement, Joseph Johnson, Commissioner of Information and Communications, stated that it was too hasty for the government to take any stance.

Johnson said: “The president has made a declaration and what do you think we can say? I think it is too hasty to make any comment about it.”

President Tinubu has nominated Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd) as Administrator to take charge of the affairs of the state for the period.
