Sambo in Accra over ECOWAS Leaders’ Meeting on Ebola

Vice President Namadi Sambo‎ at the last minute was drafted by President Goodluck Jonathan to represent him at the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Emergency Summit on the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) which is still ravaging Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea, in Accra‎.

delegation of Heads of State and Government raised by the Economic Community of West African States to facilitate the rapid resolution of the current political crisis in Burkina Faso.

He did not return to the country until in the early hours of Thursday, hence he directed the Vice Sambo to represent him at the Accra summit.

The emergency summit also attended by representatives of the United Nations and the World Health Organisation is seeking greater international support and collaboration for the containment of the Ebola outbreak.

Others that made the summit were the acting Minister of Health, Dr. Khaliru Alhassan and the Director of the National Centre for Disease Control, Dr. Abdulsalami Nasidi.

Nigeria availed‎ the gathering of the benefit of Nigeria’s successful containment of the deadly EVD after it entered the country in July this year through Late Patrick Sawyer, the Liberian-American.
