Segun Olatunji: We’ve Handed over Everything to God, Says FirstNews Mgt | METROWATCH

The one-day spiritual exercise embarked on by the management and staff of FirstNews has come and gone with an admonition by Publisher of the newspaper, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, for the staff to remain steadfast and have faith that Mr. Segun Olatunji, their missing editor would be found.
Speaking at the end of the prayer and fasting, Iworiso-Markson said it was inevitable to go spiritual and seek divine intervention from almighty God to secure the release of Olatunji.
He maintained that having explored all the necessary channels available to them, they resorted to going spiritual and expressed optimism that Olatunji would be found and reunited with his family.
According to him, the first day of the spiritual exercise was a huge success, as friends, family members, and associates of Olatunji and FirstNews across the globe joined them to observe it.
Iworiso-Markson noted that the safe release of Olatunji had become the main prayer point of all staff of the organisation and enjoined their millions of readers to also do the same as a form of solidarity.
He informed that security agencies are yet to respond to inquiries made regarding the exact location of their editor, adding that in the new week, they are hoping that something positive would occur.
“We started our prayer and fasting today (Sunday). We directed our staff to embark on the spiritual exercise while waiting for the response of the security agencies, and it was a huge success.
“All members of staff were requested to put in a special prayer request in their various places of worship to call on God to intervene. Our request was a simple one: God, please bring Segun Olatunji back home safely to his family.
“Since he was whisked away, we have all been praying individually for his safe return. But now we have taken the decision to call for collective, corporate prayers and fasting until he is released and safely returned to his family. And that we have started today.
“All our staff were equally enjoined to raise prayer alters to specifically intercede for his release. We’re following this with a prayer chain to continue throughout the week involving all members of our staff until God answers our prayers. We invite members of the public, including friends and family members of our editor, to join us in this prayer chain as a mark of solidarity,” Iworiso-Markson added.
Last week, the organisation wrote a letter to the Chief of Defence Staff, requesting him to help them locate Olatunji, who was taken away from his Lagos home, exactly 10 days ago.
