A 38-year-old man, Bobby Kotri, was on Tuesday arrested by soldiers on check-point duty in Adamawa State for being in possession of 85 permanent voter cards (PVCs).
When contacted on the development, Malam Abdulrazaq Bello-Barkindo, media adviser to the PDP governorship candidate in the state, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, described the action of the PVC carrier as repulsive and promised to launch a vigorous investigation into the matter.
The soldiers said the  suspect was arrested at an Army check-point  in Song Local Government Area of the state while returning to Garta/Futu Development Area in Michika Local Government Area of the state.
Parading the suspect at the Headquarters of 23rd Armoured Bigade of the Nigerian Army, Yola, the suspect  told journalists that he was an errand boy for the Sole Administrator (SOLAD) of Garta/Futu Area Development, Mr Jimmy Zira,
He said SOLAD  gave him the PVCs for distribution to the people of Futu  ward, whom he claimed were on the mountain tops taking refuge there following attacks on their community by insurgents.
The suspect also claimed that he knows all the  owners of the PVCs, who  he said,  were scattered in the mountainous areas of the Development Area after they where dislodged by the Boko Haram insurgents.
He has been handed over to the Adamawwa State Police Command for further investigations.
The command’s imaged maker, Othman Abubakar, a deputy superintendent of police (DSP), said a full-scaled investigation into the issue will commence immediately.
Commenting on the matter, Adamawa State office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), stated categorically that no individual, no matter his or her status in the society, apart from the INEC staff, has the authority to have more than one PVC in his or her custody.
The Public Affairs Manager of INEC in the state, Mrs. Rifkatu Duku, said   possessing  such a number of PVCs by an individual amounts to criminality.
