Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has lamented unavailability of quality tertiary education textbooks in the three-tier systems of education in the country.
Executive Secretary of the Fund PProfessor Suleiman Bogoro, bemoaned the spate of poor books at the inauguration of a Technical Advisory Committee (TAG) in Abuja.
Bogoro said it was disheartening that many universities were running without acceptable and current textbooks adding that with the Book Development Fund approved by the Board, the committee would be expected to bring the situation to an end.
He said the initial N2billon approved for book development was raised to N4. 9billion to which N2. 5billion has so far been utilized.
The book development committee has Professor Charles Aworh of the University of Ibadan as chairman and would be assisted by Professor Umaru Parte of Bayero University, Kano.
