Tilije Absent as Delta Assembly Screens, Confirms 17 Commissioner-nominees

The Delta State House of Assembly, Tuesday, screened and confirmed the appointments of 17 Commissioners’ nominees and members of the State Executive Council (SEC) as earlier forwarded to it by the State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa.

It would be recalled that the State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa had on Thursday, Last week forwarded the names of 18 nominees to the State House of Assembly for appointment as commissioners and members of the State Executive Council.

One of the nominees earlier forwarded to the state House of Assembly and former Commissioner for Finance, Sir Fidelis Tilije was absent during the Screening exercise held at the hallowed chambers of the state House of Assembly.

Those screened and confirmed by the state legislature at Tuesday’s plenary presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, include; Mr Charles Aniagwu, immediate past commissioner for Information, Dr Barry Gbe, the immediate past commissioner for Economic Planning, Mr Julius Egbedi, the immediate past Commissioner for Agriculture and Mr Lawrence Ejiofor, the immediate past commissioner for Culture and Tourism.

Others include; Mr Ifeanyi Egwuyenga, the immediate past commissioner for Youths Development, Chief Arthur Akpowowo, the immediate past commissioner for Urban Renewal and Chief Festus Ochonogor who was also the immediate past commissioner for Housing.

Also at plenary, Mrs Flora Alanta, immediate past commissioner for Women Affairs, Mr Churchill Amagada, immediate past commissioner for Lands, and Mr Chris Onogba, the immediate past commissioner for Environment were also screened and confirmed for appointment as Commissioners and members of the State Executive Council.

 

Similarly, Mr Jonathan Ukodhiko, Mrs Evelyn Oboro, Mr Noel Omordon,
Mrs Rose Esenwu, Princess Shola Ogbemi-Daibo, Mrs Kate Oniawan, and
Mr Johnbull Edema was also screened and confirmed for appointment as Commissioners.

 

Motion for the confirmation of the nominees was moved by the Deputy Majority leader of the House, Hon. Oboro Preyor as seconded by the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Ochor Christopher Ochor and adopted.

 

Also at Plenary, members of the state House of Assembly screened and confirmed the appointment of Nine Secretaries to Local Government (SLG) in the State.

 

Those Screened and confirmed include; Hon. Clifford Lobo, Fun-Akpo, Bomadi, Mr Felix Onyemaechi Edemwnya, Ndokwa East, Comrade Paul Angiana-Owei Oduru, Patani.

 

Others screened include, Iyah Brendan Chukwuemeka, Oshimili South, Chukwunedu Harry Dafikpaku, Ukwani, Mrs Gabari Gladys Omari, Warri South-West, Hon. Oderhohwo Felix, Ughelli North, Hon. Igbuduma David Ejor, Isoko North and Mr Samuel Meyiwa Khalil, Warri North.

 

Motion for the confirmation of the appointees was moved by the Deputy Majority leader of the House, Hon. Oboro Preyor was seconded by the Minority leader, Hon. Anidi Innocent.
