A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Olisa Agbakoba, has said President Bola Tinubu has what it takes to drive the process that would lead to the emergence of a new constitution acceptable to Nigerians.

Agbakoba made this statement on Friday when he appeared as a guest on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television.

He said that with the availability of resources, Tinubu can give Nigerians a new constitution within six months.

According to him, the office of the President wields too much power, which does not promote the needed development in the states; hence, the need for devolution of powers.

“President Tinubu is the only person who has the capacity to drive a new constitutional process and can give Nigerians one within six months, as the National Assembly has taken too long to provide a solution,” he said.

The former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), while speaking on the arrest of human rights activist Omoyele Sowore following the recent protest over the call for the release of the self-acclaimed leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, commended Sowore for his activism.
