Tinubu Orders Evacuation of Communities Affected by Borno Flood

President Bola Tinubu, Tuesday, has established that he remains committed to supporting states during difficult times.

This he did by calling for the immediate evacuation of residents in communities overtaken by floods.

Tinubu, who expressed deep concern over the flooding in parts of Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, directed the relevant government agencies to expedite rescue efforts.

According to the statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga, while the relevant authorities are still assessing the damage caused by the flood, the President calls for the immediate evacuation of people from the affected areas.

In the statement titled, ‘President Tinubu Expresses Concern over Maiduguri Flood, Pledges Federal Support’, it reads:

“President Tinubu extends his heartfelt condolences to the government and people of the state, especially to the families that have lost their means of livelihood due to the disaster triggered by the overflow of the Alau Dam.

“President Tinubu assures Governor Babagana Zulum that the Federal Government is ready to collaborate to address the immediate humanitarian needs of the affected people.

“He has ordered the National Emergency Management Agency to assist the flood victims.”

The presidential aide added that Tinubu remains committed to mobilising federal resources to support the state during this difficult time.
