Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has said the economic policies of President Bola Tinubu’s administration made it difficult for his family to afford medicines for his late mother.
Amaechi, the vice-presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress in the 2027 election, made the claim during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today aired on Friday.
He said the rising cost of medicines affected his family’s ability to provide adequate care for his mother before her death.
According to Amaechi, the situation was not unique to his family, as many Nigerians were also struggling to afford healthcare amid rising living costs.
He said the increasing cost of medicines had placed additional pressure on households already dealing with economic difficulties.
Amaechi criticised the administration’s economic policies, arguing that their effects were being felt by Nigerians in their everyday lives.
He said access to affordable healthcare should be prioritised as part of efforts to improve the welfare of citizens.
