UK-based Nigerian Replaces ‘Stolen’ Shoes, Wristwatch of Kemi Badenoch’s Brother

A UK-based Nigerian, James Akinwande has bought a new pair of shoes and a wristwatch to replace the ones allegedly stolen by men of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) from UK Conservative Party leader, Kemi Badenoch’s brother.

Late 2024, Badenoch claimed in an interview that her brother’s shoes and wristwatch were stolen by Nigerian policemen but did not divulge details of the incident.

Born to a Nigerian father, Badenoch was born in the UK but was raised in Nigeria, returning to the UK at age 16.

The UK politician has faced intense criticism from Nigerians, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, for her recent comments they tagged ‘denigrating’ of Nigeria.

Reacting to the theft comment, Akinwande shared a video showing him shopping for a pair of shoes and a wristwatch in a UK store.

Akinwande subsequently took the new items to the headquarters of the UK Conservative Party seeking to present them to Badenoch for delivery to her brother.

However, he eventually handed the items over to security personnel at the party office’s gate for passage to the Tory leader.

“On behalf of every proud Nigerian who felt genuinely hurt by those unfounded disparaging remarks about the Nigerian Police. We “buy back” the stolen shoes and watch! (I hope it fits, tho..),” Akinwande says at the end of the video.
