Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello has asserted that the recent appointment of Dr. (Mrs) Amina Az-Zubair as the Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations is a global endorsement of Nigeria as a strong force to be reckon with in the committee of nations.

The Governor noted that although appointment to the UN top position is not an easy one, he was optimistic that Dr. Az-Zubair’s pedigree and dexterity would make her excel on the plum job.

Governor Sani Bello extolled the good virtues of the new Deputy Secretary General describing her as a shining example of the womenfolk in the country.

“Dr. Az-Zubair has really made us proud as a country. Her appointment as a woman also challenges us as government to continue to give attention to the girl-child education in particular and priority to womenfolk in general”.

He said her exploit when she was the SSA to the President on MDGs clearly established her competence adding that such enviable record was also responsible for President Buhari appointing her as a Minister.

The Governor who said that the Deputy Secretary general is on a familiar terrain,  prayed Allah to continue to guide, protect, and give her the wisdom in accomplishing this onerous task ahead.
