Canada backed the United States and Israel over military action with Iran, which escalated on Saturday.
Prime Minister of Canada Mark Carney released the country’s official statement on the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
Recall that the US/Israel carried out a military action against Iran.
The Iranian government had retaliated with strikes against US military bases in the Middle East.
The development had triggered war escalation across the region.
Reacting, the Canadian PM reiterated its stance that Iran is the principle source of instability and terror across the Middle East.
“Canada’s position remains clear: the Islamic Republic of Iran is the principal source of instability and terror throughout the Middle East, has one of the world’s worst human rights records, and must never be allowed to obtain or develop nuclear weapons.
“Canada supports the United States acting to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon and to prevent its regime from further threatening international peace and security,” the statement partly reads.
