The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has congratulated Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, on his Supreme Court victory, saying the ruling is a clear call to serve the people of Edo even better.
Wike made the statement on Thursday through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka.
He described the Supreme Court judgement as a final confirmation of the mandate freely given to Governor Okpebholo by the people during last year’s governorship election.
He urged the governor to remain focused and committed to delivering development and good governance across the state.
“This victory is for the people of Edo State, who elected Governor Okpebholo. It is a call for greater commitment to the service of the people.
“I congratulate the governor and urge him to keep doing his best for the upliftment of Edo State and its people,” he said.
Wike also appealed to the opposition candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Asuerime Ighodalo, and other political opponents to put the election behind them and support the governor for the progress of the state.
“Now that a final answer has been provided as to who actually won the governorship election, it behoves on all opponents of the governor to, in the collective interest of Edo State, join hands with him,” Wike stated.
