A media group, WorldStage Ltd., has appointed Mr Bamidele Famoofo, an award-winning business journalist, as its new editor.

According to the company, Famoofo will take over editorial leadership from Mr Segun Adeleye, the founder of WorldStage, who will continue to serve as Editor-in-Chief and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the group.

As part of efforts to strengthen its editorial operations and expand its reach, the organisation also deployed an accomplished media professional, Mr Segun Otokiti, to head its Abuja Bureau.
Otokiti began his journalism career as Lead Writer with The Comet Newspaper from 2001 to 2003.

He later worked as senior reporter with The Nation between 2006 and 2008 and served as Assistant Editor with the Nigerian Compass Newspapers from 2008 to 2012.

Also joining the editorial team is Mr Olusegun Elijah, who comes on board as Senior Analyst.

Elijah, a Mass Communication graduate, has over a decade of journalism experience covering general reporting, investigative journalism, long-form journalism and business reporting.
Commenting on the appointments, the CEO of WorldStage, Adeleye, expressed delight that Famoofo had agreed to join the organisation at a critical stage in its growth.

He described Famoofo as a humble and highly respected professional within the business journalism ecosystem.
“For him to choose WorldStage speaks volumes about what we are capable of doing and what we are going to do,” Adeleye said.

Adeleye said the organisation’s core values were anchored on knowledge, empowerment and service.
He noted that the group planned to attract more resourceful professionals in the coming months to deliver value-added information that would help business owners and policy makers make informed decisions.

According to him, having remained competitive since its establishment, the organisation was positioning itself for the next phase of growth.

He said the goal was to attract the right human and capital resources to drive rapid expansion and establish leadership in Nigeria, Africa and globally by 2035.
“As journalists, we have covered businesses for many years and have seen Nigerian entrepreneurs start from scratch and go on to build globally competitive companies.

“If we cannot be inspired to dream big with these lessons, then we have no one to blame,” he said. (NAN)
