Nigerian gospel singer Yinka Alaseyori has taken a step towards reconciliation with her colleague, Tope Alabi, five years after their public disagreement over her song, Oniduro Mi.

Alaseyori indicated the development on Tuesday while celebrating Alabi’s birthday in a post on Instagram.

Sharing a picture of the veteran gospel singer, Alaseyori wrote, “Happy birthday Ma L/Evang @tope_alabi_ and congratulations on your new age.

“Sufficient grace, strength and mercy we pray for you, ma. Best of God this day and beyond ma.”

The birthday message comes after years of public tension between the two gospel singers following a disagreement in June 2021.

The controversy began when Alabi criticised Alaseyori’s popular song, Oniduro Mi, which translates to “My Guarantor”.

Alabi had questioned the description of God as a guarantor, arguing that His power and nature go beyond the role of a guarantor or surety.

Her comments generated widespread reactions on social media, with some Christians accusing her of criticising Alaseyori unfairly.

Following the incident, the two singers were no longer seen publicly celebrating each other on social media, fuelling speculation about a rift between them.

Alaseyori’s latest birthday message has, however, raised hopes among fans that the longstanding disagreement may be behind them.

Although neither singer has publicly confirmed a formal reconciliation, the gesture marks a notable development in their relationship after years of public tension.
