Yobe Assembly Redirects N4.15Bn from 2014 Budget to Road Construction

The Yobe House of Assembly on Wednesday approved a virement of N4.15 billion in the 2014 budget to complete the ongoing federal and state roads in various parts of the state.

Reading the request of Governor Ibrahim Gaidam for the virement, the speaker of the House, Hon, Adamu Dala Dogo said it was imperative to make some transfers within the Ministry of Works approved 2014 budget to complete ongoing federal and state roads before the end of this financial year.

He said: “In line with the provisions of the 2014 Appropriation law, the Secretary to the State Government in his August 14, 2014 letter of request for the approval by this Honourable House to effect virement in the 2014 approved budget where a total savings of N4.15 billion is made from some codes in respect of the capital expenditures for the Ministry of Works to argument  construction of federal and state roads within the same budget for the attainment of government set objectives within the year under review.”

The speaker explained that with the approved virements, the completion of federal roads by the Ministry of Works will gulp the sum of N1.1 billion, while N3.1 billion was to be expended on state roads.
