The Network of Yobe Civil Society organizations (NYCSO) has commended Governor Mala Buni for his sponsorship of a bill to give the office of the Auditor General of the state its deserved independence to work in a democratic setting.
The Network, which participated in a public hearing recently on the Bill for the establishment of the Yobe State Public sector Audit Law and other related matters 2021 said that the bill if passed to the law would enhance accountability and reduce wrong practices in the service.
“Having taken part in the formulation of the bill, the Network uses the occasion of the Public hearing to commend the Government of Yobe state for its attempt to give the offices of the Auditors General the independence it deserves.
“This, the Network believes will go a long way in ensuring Good Governance and effective service delivery in the state.
“The Network also Seized that opportunity and called on the state House of assembly to reach out to the executive and have some of the bills passed into law by the House, signed by the Governor.” Said Mohammed Kucici in a statement.
Bills such as: “Bureau of Statistics Bill, Public private partnership Bill, People Living with disability Bill, Child protection Bill.” are some of the completed bills which if signed into law and implemented will have direct bearing on the life of the Citizens of the state said Muhammad Kucici the chair of the NYCSO
