In a bid to stem the tide of the proliferation of private higher health institutions in Borno State, Governor Babagana Zulum has initiated the establishment of a multisectoral team to develop and review operational guidelines.

This effort aims according to health sector watchers is aimed to ensure proper sanity and standardization within the Education and Health sectors managing such facilities.

The team, which includes representatives from the Ministries of Education, Health, and Justice, alongside leaders from private and government health institutions, convened to discuss the draft document.

Chaired by Commissioners of Education Lawan Wakilbe and that of Health Baba Malam Gana, the team emphasized the necessity of standardized guidelines to ensure conducive environments for learning and healthcare delivery.

 

Similarly, they also stressed the importance of this initiative, particularly for nursing and medical students and expressed gratitude to Governor Zulum for prioritizing the education and health needs of the people.

 

Following extensive deliberations, a sub committee was formed to review the draft document, focusing on legal requirements for licensing, accreditation and registration of private health institutions in the state.

This multisectoral approach demonstrates Borno State Government’s commitment to promoting standardized guidelines and fostering a harmonized and effective regulatory framework for private health institutions.
