Nigeria will not make the list of best losers in the Africa Zone of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Ahead of their last two fixtures against Lesotho and the Benin Republic, the Super Eagles currently have 11 points.
This means the maximum Eric Chelle’s men can reach is 17 points.
However, there are at least four countries above that tally, following Wednesday’s matches.
The top four candidates for the playoffs include Gabon (19 points), Madagascar (19), Burkina Faso (18) and Cameroon (18).
The only way Nigeria can qualify is if South Africa stumbles in one of their games and the Eagles win their remaining games.
