The wife of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Titi Abubakar, has said her husband would serve only one term if elected president in the 2027 general election.
Titi made the statement while speaking about Atiku’s presidential ambition and his plans for the country if elected.
She said Atiku would use his first term to address Nigeria’s challenges and prepare his deputy to take over after four years.
According to her, Atiku would “tutor” his deputy on politics during his tenure to ensure a smooth transition of power at the end of the administration.
She also expressed confidence that Nigerians would support Atiku if he emerges as the candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and contests the 2027 presidential election.
Titi said the former vice president had the experience required to lead the country, having served as vice president between 1999 and 2007.
She urged Nigerians to consider Atiku’s political experience and plans for the country ahead of the election.
The former vice president is among opposition politicians seeking to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
Atiku formally joined the ADC in 2025 as part of efforts by opposition figures to build a coalition ahead of the election.
