2027: ‘Muslim-Muslim Ticket’ No Longer an Issue, Says Presidency

The Presidency has said the controversial Muslim-Muslim ticket that brought President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima to power in 2023 was no longer an issue.

It insisted that earlier fears about Islamisation had been dispelled.

Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, stated this in an interview with Daily Trust on Thursday.

“Christians are living their lives. The president even attended the Pope’s inauguration in Rome. There’s nothing to worry about.

“Many of the names being speculated as potential running mates are Muslims. So again, this isn’t an issue,” Onanuga said.

Meanwhile, the Muslim Rights Concern, MURIC, has warned the APC and Tinubu against replacing Vice President Shettima ahead of the 2027 elections.

Professor Ishaq Akintola, in a statement signed by its executive director, said any move to drop Shettima would be ill-advised.
