2027: Stop Using Atiku as Election Year Scapegoat, Frank tells Obasanjo

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC),  Timi Frank, has accused  former President Olusegun Obasanjo of allegedly  turning former Vice President Atiku Abubakar into an election-year scapegoat every four years.

Frank, in a statement, on Saturday, accused Obasanjo of reviving allegations against Atiku every  election cycle, stating that Nigerians are now  tired of  the pattern.

Atiku served as Vice President during President Obasanjo’s tenure, which lasted from 1999 to 2027. However, both men fell towards the end of their tenure and has a cat and mice relationship since then.

The former APC deputy spokesman, while stating  that it is the former President’s “prerogative not to support Atiku” in the 2027 presidential poll, implored him to  stop the attacks on his former deputy.

According to him, Atiku was instrumental in assembling the technocrats and professionals who  delivered some of the major achievements credited to the Obasanjo administration.

Consequently, he challenged Obasanjo to take responsibility for both the successes and failures of the government instead of repeatedly portraying his former deputy as the architect of its problems.

Besides, Frank, who is also the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) Ambassador to East Africa and the Middle East, noted that Obasanjo knows that Atiku is qualified and has the requisite capacity to lead Nigeria.

He noted that political power would ultimately be determined by Nigerians, adding  that “if it is destined for Atiku to become President”, no one can stop it.
