The Bauchi State chapter of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, has commenced mass mobilisation and grassroots engagement aimed at registering new members and strengthening the party’s presence across the state ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The party said the initiative is part of efforts to dislodge the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from power in Bauchi State.

Speaking after a stakeholders’ meeting of the party held in Bauchi, the spokesperson of the stakeholders and Chairman of the ADC State Forum, Abubakar Muhammad Bibi, said the party was intensifying engagement with both urban and rural communities.

According to him, the ADC is currently listening to the concerns of residents, sensitising them on its programmes, and promoting good governance and inclusive policies.

“What we are doing now is to register more people into the ADC. The turnout of people joining the party in Bauchi State is very encouraging. ADC is working silently but strategically to take over power in Bauchi State come 2027,” Bibi said.

“We are doing everything possible to chase the PDP out of power in Bauchi State, and by the grace of God, we will succeed,” he added.

Bibi explained that the community engagement strategy was designed to educate citizens on the need to register as ADC members and to present the party as a credible alternative to what he described as the failed leadership of both the PDP and the All Progressives Congress (APC), which have governed the state for decades.

“Our major aim is to build a robust support base while promoting the basic principles of democracy and inclusive governance. We are recording significant progress in this regard,” he said.

He also disclosed that the party had recently resolved an internal leadership dispute at the state level.

“There was a minor crisis within the party, but at this stakeholders’ meeting, we were able to resolve it. A committee has been set up to authenticate the party’s leadership structure from the ward to the local government levels across the 20 local government areas of the state,” Bibi stated.

Despite internal challenges, he said the party continues to grow, attributing this to public dissatisfaction with governance in the state.

“The people of Bauchi are tired of failed leadership. If you visit primary schools across the state today, the situation is alarming. Some schools with over 400 pupils have only two teachers. There are similar challenges in other sectors, and we are not comfortable with the way the PDP-led administration is running the state,” he said.

Bibi further alleged that governance in Bauchi State was dominated by a small circle of individuals.

“The PDP government in Bauchi is run by a clique of a few people, more like a family-and-friends affair. That is why we are determined to remove the PDP from power. By God’s grace, come May 29, 2027, we will invite you to the swearing-in ceremony of an ADC governor in Bauchi State,” he added.
