The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has boasted that it is witnessing an influx of young people into the party rather than elderly people.
The National Chairman of the party, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, made this revelation on Tuesday when he featured in an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today.
According to him, “We discovered that we have more young people coming to APC than the elderly.
“When we discuss people coming back to the APC, we don’t discuss the governors. We are rather discussing ordinary Nigerians who move to the APC everyday.
“We are doing e-registration. We did some sampling and opinion poll of our members based on illustration and we discovered that we have more young people coming to the APC than even the elderly people.
“They form about 49% of people who are interested in the APC platform, roughly about 50%, which means about half of our members are between the ages of 18 and 35 years. This means we have a youthful political party.
“But before now, we didn’t have youthful political party. The data we had before was that within those categories were just about 21% to 23%. So what’s attracting more young people in the APC is what we should ask.”
