80th UNGA: Why Nigeria Seeks Permanent Seat, Says Tinubu

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has explained that Nigeria is seeking a permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for the sake of fairness, representation, and reform.

Tinubu disclosed this in his speech on Wednesday at the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York, United States of America.

Represented by Vice President Kasim Shattima, the president of the most populous African country, noted that Nigeria is a stabilizing force in regional security and a consistent partner in global peacekeeping.

“A stabilising force in regional security and a consistent partner in global peacekeeping, our case for a permanent seat at the “Security Council is a demand for fairness, for representation, and for reform that restores credibility to the very institution upon which the hope of multilateralism rests,” he said.
