Obaseki vs Orbih PDP: Police Arrest Edo REC  –  fingers point at governor

The Edo State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mr. Johnson Alalibo, has been arrested by the State Commissioner of Police, allegedly on the orders of Governor Godwin Obaseki.

 

According to a staff of the electoral commission in Benin city who spoke to truthlive.net on the condition of anonymity, Mr. Alalibo was arrested on Thursday morning and still being detained as of the time of filing this report this evening.

She told our corresponded that the Edo State governor, having lost all his electoral litigations and battles to the Edo PDP legacy has resulted in bullying and intimidating perceived enemies, stating that picking on the Edo State INEC egghead who has been very diligent in carrying out his constitutional responsibility is a wrong call to make.

 

According to the female staff who was obviously furious with the action of the embattled governor, “our commissioner is only answerable to our National Chairman, Prof. Mahmud Yakubu, and not Governor Obaseki, his arrest is only a waste of time as Mr. Alalibo is a law-abiding citizen who is carrying out his constitutional responsibilities and duties according to the law of the land.
