Nigeria Police Inspector-General, Kayode Egbetokun

By Sam Kayode
The Gombe State Command of the Nigeria Police has called on residents to remain calm and disregard misleading information being peddled by mischief makers in the social media that many people were abducted by criminals on Saturday.
A release signed by the spokesman of the command ASP Mahid Abubakar and made available to newsmen on Sunday said that only two people were abducted by the bandits.
He maintained that “contrary to the report going viral on social media outlets that many people were kidnapped at Shabewa village the facts of the case are that on 08/10/2023 at about 0255hrs suspected kidnappers invaded the resident of one Umar Sambo ‘m’ of Shabewa ward Dukku in Dukku LGA with guns and other dangerous weapons asking his first wife for his where about.
” Fortunately, he did not sleep in her room and the man was alerted and escaped into the bush before the kidnappers entered the second wife’s room, but after searching all the rooms and could not find him, they kidnapped one of his wives, namely Amina Usman Aliyu,  and his brother, Mustapha Sambo ‘m’ of the same address.
“Meanwhile, Police patrol teams in collaboration with vigilantes and hunters are already on their trail inside the bush following directives by the  Commissioner of Police CP Etim.
” CP Etim assures the good citizens of Dukku and the state at large of the command’s readiness and commitment to securing their lives and properties.
” The Command urges residents to remain calm and provide us with useful information that will aid in the quick rescue of the victims through the command’s emergency number 08150567771.
” Finally, the command implores the public to disregard any misleading information being circulated by mischief makers who are bent on portraying the state in bad light for their selfish interests.”  the release stated
