Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has insisted that Arsenal would win the Premier League this season.
According to Ferdinand, it is the turn of Mikel Arteta’s side to clinch the title, insisting they won’t finish second again.
He made the prediction after Manchester United beat defending champions, Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday night.
It was a fourth successive defeat to Liverpool who were tipped to successfully defend their title this season.
Bryan Mbeumo put Manchester United in front inside two minutes and Cody Gakpo drew the hosts level on 78 minutes.
Manchester United then snatched the three points, thanks to Harry Maguire’s late header.
The latest defeat leaves the Reds fourth in the Premier League, four points behind current pacesetters, Arsenal.
Arsenal beat Fulham 1-0 on Saturday, courtesy of Leandro Trossard’s second-half goal.
Ferdinand believes that Arsenal, who have finished second in the last three seasons, are finally set to get their hands on the trophy.
Ferdinand said on his YouTube channel, “I said before a ball was kicked this season that Arsenal, this is their chance to win the league.
“I felt they had to do it this year and couldn’t come second again. They’ve got a wonderful group of players, it’s probably the best squad in terms of depth in the league.
“They recruited well in the summer and found a way again against Fulham yesterday. They are my favourites to win the Premier League.”
