The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the interception of a truck conveying materials suspected to be explosives, following what it described as a successful security operation.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, disclosed this to journalists on Sunday afternoon.
According to the police, operatives intercepted the vehicle during a routine security operation in the Saki area of Oke-Ogun. The truck, alongside the suspected explosive materials discovered inside it, has since been secured and taken into police custody.
DSP Olayinka said preliminary safety measures were immediately put in place to protect the public, noting that the situation was effectively brought under control without any incident.
He added that the recovered items are currently undergoing examination as part of ongoing investigations to determine their exact nature, source, and intended use. The Command further revealed that detailed forensic and intelligence-led investigations are underway, assuring that more information will be made available as findings emerge.
The police reassured residents of Oyo State of their continued commitment to safeguarding lives and property, while urging members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious movements or activities to security agencies.
