The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday conducted its ward congresses in Lagos State, electing party executives to run the affairs of the party for the next four years.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the congress was held in wards in the constitutionally recognised 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state.

Speaking on the exercise, the party’s Spokesman, Mr Seye Oladejo, told NAN that the congress across the state was peaceful.

According to him, party executives were elected by consensus in most wards.

Describing the exercise as smooth, Oladejo said: “It is a family affair. So far so good, there is no unpleasant report.

“It is more or less consensus and understanding of all the various wards. As usual, we have the traditional cohesion and rancour-free process in our party.”

He added that the party had internal mechanisms to address any disagreement that might arise from the exercise.

“In any case of disagreements, the APC has the normal kind of mechanism to resolve them.

“I can say by and large, so far so good, no issues,” Oladejo said.

The spokesman expressed optimism that the outcome of the congress would further strengthen the party ahead of forthcoming electoral activities.

“At the end of the process, we expect that we will be able to maintain the present peace.

“With that, we will also build towards the coming primary and general elections. Yes, no problem at all,” he said.

Oladejo noted that the peaceful conduct of the congress reflected the unity and discipline within the Lagos APC.

He added that the party remained focused on consolidating its structure ahead of future political contests.
