President Donald Trump’s supporters have celebrated the recently established agreement to conclude the US-Israel conflict regarding Iran as a significant triumph for the president.

This comes even though the precise details of the agreement are still unclear, with uncertainties surrounding which obligations will be incorporated in the initial memorandum of understanding (MOU) set to be signed on Friday and which matters, such as Iran’s nuclear programme, will only be subject to negotiations after the deal is finalised.

US Vice President JD Vance highlighted the decline in oil prices immediately following the announcement, as he proclaimed a “new era” for the Middle East.

He stated on Fox News, “What the president has accomplished is create the genuine opportunity to transform that region,” adding, “I believe we can confidently assert that Iran will never possess a nuclear weapon.”

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio linked the announcement to Trump’s upcoming 80th birthday on Sunday.

“America is fortunate to have a leader endowed with such extraordinary courage, remarkable strength, an unmatched sense of humor, and an unparalleled love for the nation,” he expressed on X.

Numerous Republicans took to social media to commend Trump as the “deal-maker in chief.”

Congressman Robert Aderholt reiterated Trump’s assertions that a forthcoming agreement with Iran would impose stricter limitations on Tehran’s nuclear program than the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

That agreement, from which Trump withdrew in 2018, was established during the administration of US President Barack Obama. It required Tehran to limit its nuclear program in exchange for relief from sanctions. Tehran has consistently claimed that it does not aim to develop a nuclear weapon.

“Unlike the agreement reached under the Obama administration, this deal will not permit Iran to continue enriching uranium and assembling the components necessary to construct a nuclear weapon,” Aderholt stated.

However, there was no indication that the memorandum would encompass any immediate commitments regarding Tehran’s nuclear program.

Both parties have indicated that the initial agreement would cease hostilities on all fronts, including Lebanon.
