The National Social Safety Nets Coordinating Office (NASSCO) has disclosed that, as of June 2026, over 13.4 million individuals have successfully integrated their National Identification Number (NIN) into the National Social Register.
NASSCO on its verified ‘X’ handle on Friday stated that more than 10.8 million households have also been updated across 771 local government areas in the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The agency said the achievements demonstrated ongoing efforts to strengthen the quality of social protection data, enhance accurate identification of beneficiaries, and promote transparency and inclusiveness in the delivery of government social intervention programmes.
According to NASSCO, the integration of NIN into the Social Register is aimed at building a more reliable, accountable and responsive social protection system that effectively serves vulnerable Nigerians.
In Nigeria, the Social Register is a government-managed database that contains information about poor and vulnerable households and individuals who may qualify for social assistance, social insurance, and labour market intervention programmes.
