Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has said the club remains confident of proving its innocence following reports that it was found guilty of 114 of 115 alleged breaches of the Premier League’s financial rules.

The reports emerged on Friday after the decision of an independent tribunal was communicated to Premier League clubs. However, the Premier League has not officially announced the verdict or any potential sanctions.

Manchester City have consistently denied wrongdoing and are expected to appeal the reported decision.

In an open letter to supporters on Saturday, Al Mubarak said the legal process was not yet over and insisted that the club remained confident in its position.

“The Premier League process still has a long way to run, and our confidence and intent in proving the club’s innocence is just as strong as when this began,” he said.

The chairman said he was unable to provide further details because of the confidentiality surrounding the case.

He also urged supporters to wait for the completion of the legal process rather than draw conclusions from media reports.

“While some people have been quick to reach their own conclusions, and there is so much noise swirling around us, nothing has changed,” Al Mubarak said.

The charges relate to alleged financial rule breaches covering the period between 2009 and 2018.

The Premier League has declined to comment on the reported verdict, citing the confidential nature of the proceedings.

City are expected to challenge the decision through the available legal process, while any potential sanctions have yet to be announced.
