The National President of the Alumni Association of the National Institute (AANI), Ambassador EO Okafor mni, on behalf of the Executive Council and the entire members of AANI, express deep sorrow over the passing away of the gallant Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Taureeq Abiodun Lagbaja NAM GSS psc (+) usawc CM FCM FCMH MSS.

Lieutenant General TA Lagbaja was more than just a military leader; he was a symbol of courage, loyalty, national unity, exceptional commitment and loyalty to his country. His selfless dedication to duty was evident in his numerous contributions to the Nigerian Army and the nation. He was a true patriot who consistently put the needs of his country above his own.

A man of exceptional character, the late Chief of Army Staff was known for his humility and approachability. He inspired those around him with his leadership qualities and his ability to motivate and empower his troops. His strategic acumen and operational expertise were instrumental in various military operations, where he displayed exceptional courage and resilience.

As we mourn the loss of this great leader, we extend our deepest condolences to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, late General Lagbaja’s spouse and family, friends, colleagues, Nigerian Army, the Armed Forces of Nigeria and the Nigerian nation at large. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
