The alleged fake Director-General of the purported Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, PFIPC, Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, has been remanded in Kuje Prison after his arraignment before the Federal High Court in Abuja.
He was put on trial by the police on behalf of the Federal Government on allegations bordering on conspiracy, forgery and impersonation.
The police filed an eight-count charge against Adeyemi in November 2025, alleging he conspired with two others still at large to forge presidential appointment letters, State House documents and other official correspondences linked to the fictitious agency.
The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice however took over the matter, as Adeyemi pleaded not guilty to the eight court charge before Justice Mohammed Garba Umar.
After his plea, counsel for the prosecution Rotimi Oyedepo, SAN, noted that, by pleading not guilty, the defendant, he has put himself up for trial.
Oyedepo also stated that, in view of the defendant’s disposition before his arrest and arraignment, he should be remanded in prison custody pending his trial.
However the defendant’s lawyer, Genesis Francis, told the court of an application for bail filed and served on the prosecution.
Justice Umar adjourned the matter to October 12, 2026, for trial and to hear Adeyemi’s bail application.
On the last adjourned date, the trial court ordered Adeyemi’s arrest after he failed to appear for his arraignment on the said day. He was arrested barely 24 hours later.
