The lawmaker representing Bayelsa West, Senator Seriake Dickson, has picked some holes in President Bola Tinubu’s speech during the joint session of the National Assembly on Thursday to commemorate the 2025 Democracy Day.
The lawmaker, who addressed journalists shortly after the president’s address, alleged that the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, violated his constitutional right during the event.
According to him, Akpabio rushed through President Tinubu’s letters to the National Assembly and ignored his intervention, stating that “that’s not how democracy works. That’s how military regimes operate.”
The Senator lamented that Akpabio “completely disregarded” his right as a Senator to “raise a constitutional issue”.
