Tambuwal, who represents Sokoto South Senatorial District, had stated during a television interview that the push to unseat Tinubu was not a northern agenda but a collective national effort.

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has dismissed claims by former Sokoto State governor and serving senator Aminu Tambuwal that a nationwide consensus is underway to stop President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from seeking re-election in 2027.

Tambuwal, who represents Sokoto South Senatorial District, had stated during a television interview that the push to unseat Tinubu was not a northern agenda but a collective national effort.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Lagos APC spokesperson, Seye Oladejo, described the senator’s remarks as “misleading and unfounded,” stressing that the prevailing sentiment across the country is in favour of supporting good governance and sustaining the administration’s reforms.

“What is taking shape across Nigeria is not a consensus to stop Tinubu, but a consensus to support governance that works. When 2027 comes, Nigerians will have no hesitation in renewing their mandate for a leader who has demonstrated capacity and vision,” Oladejo said.

He noted that Tinubu was freely elected in 2023 by Nigerians from every region and background, rejecting opposition claims of imposition.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was not imposed on the people; he was elected through a democratic process that reflected the will of Nigerians across faiths, ethnicities, and geopolitical zones. Unlike the noise from the opposition, his administration has hit the ground running,” he added.

Oladejo also advised Tambuwal to focus on addressing issues surrounding his record, noting that “recent revelations” had placed him under scrutiny from anti-graft agencies.

He mocked ongoing opposition efforts to build alliances ahead of the 2027 elections, describing them as fragile and unsustainable.

“We are watching as they attempt to forge an alliance that will inevitably collapse under the weight of greed, ego, and desperation for power. Nigerians are also watching, with popcorn in hand,” he said.

According to the APC spokesperson, the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda is already delivering results in critical sectors.

“While the opposition engages in media theatrics, we are constructing roads, creating jobs, tackling power challenges, driving economic reforms, and laying foundations for a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria,” Oladejo stated.
