Arsenal Share Update on Saka, Martinelli Injury

By Seyi Babalola

Arsenal expects Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli to be ready to return from injury following the March international break.

Both players are out with hamstring ailments.

Saka has been out since December, having suffered a major muscle tear that necessitated surgery.

Martinelli picked up an injury during the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Newcastle.

However, The Mirror reports that both players could feature in the run-in in April and May.

Injuries to Saka, Martinelli, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus have left Mikel Arteta’s side incredibly short in attack.

Raheem Sterling, Leandro Trossard and Ethan Nwaneri are the only recognised senior forward players in the squad.

During their 2-0 win at Leicester City last weekend, Arteta used Mikel Merino as an emergency centre-forward.

Merino came off the bench to score a match-winning brace at the King Power Stadium.
