3 Soldiers Wounded as Gunmen Ambush Presidential Guards in Abuja

•Gunmen-cum-bandits in parts of Nigeria....

By Sam Kayode
Deadly armed bandits have attacked a military base at a village known as Nahuta in  Batsari council area of Katsina State North-west Nigeria.
A military source told this reporter that the bandits stormed the base on Sunday, close to midnight, and hunted the personnel with superior weapons before setting two Hilux vehicles ablaze.
In their trail into the surrounding villages, they were said to have stolen a lot of cattle and other valuable properties belonging to residents of the community and took them away.
The bandits who came in large numbers were said to be armed  with many sophisticated weapons ranging from General Purpose Machine guns (RPG’s) and many others in that category.
A security source who preferred anonymity within the camp, confirmed the attack and resultant destruction of their vehicles and valuables after they escaped.
He hinted that no life was lost, and nobody was abducted in the commando styled attack, seeing that the bandits seem to overpower them with their numbers and calibre of weapons.
When contacted, the Police spokesman, Abubakar Aliyu, said he’s yet to receive any report from the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the area as at the time of chatting with reporters.
