BREAKING | EDO 2024: ‘Bruised But Not Crushed’ — Philip Shaibu declares for gov | METROWATCH

By Ogochukwu Isioma

Edo Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu on Monday formally declared his interest to contest the upcoming Edo governorship election slated for next year.

Shaibu made the declaration at a well-attended event. It was largely populated by supporters and PDP faithful at the Bishop Kelly Pastoral Centre, Airport Road, Benin City.

At the declaration, the deputy Governor said though he had been bruised and pressed, but not crushed, vowing that no one can stop his ambition.

“I have been pressed but not crushed, persecuted but not abandoned, badly hurt but not destroyed,” Shaibu said.

“I resonate with the tireless and irrepressible Spirit of the Edo People. By the grace of God, nothing and no one can stop us. After all, I be original Edo son…100% home boy,” he added.

The Deputy Governor also unveiled what he termed five core pillars or agenda for the governorship race, which he said his campaign will be built upon.

They include: Infrastructural Development and Economic Diversification; Education, Sports, Skills Development and Job Creation; Healthcare and Social Welfare Systems; Agriculture, Rural Development and Poverty Alleviation; Security, Environmental Sustainability; and Transparent Governance.
