A 38-year-old man, Babalola Abideen, on Monday, appeared before an Ota Magistrates ‘Court in Ogun, over alleged N3 million fraud.
Abideen, whose house address was not provided, is facing a three count-charge of stealing, conspiracy and obtaining tricycle under false pretence.
The Prosecutor, ASP E.O.Adaraloye, told the court that the defendant and others still at large, committed the offences on July 3, at about 1.25 p.m at No.10, Queen Ave. Beye De Bells, Ota.
Adaraloye alleged that the defendant and his accomplices conspired to obtain a tricycle, with registration number MUS 982 QF and valued at N3 million, on hire purchase under false pretences.
He added that the defendant promised to remit N7,000 daily to the complainant, David Abiodun, but failed to do so.”
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 319,387 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate,Mrs O.O. Fadairo, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N300,000 with a surety in like sum.
Fadairo said that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with an evidence of tax payment to Ogun Government.
He adjourned the case until Aug.25, for further hearing.(NAN)
