Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has accepted an invitation to appear on Nigerian content creator Bae U Barbie’s YouTube programme, Curiosity Made Me Ask.
Bae U Barbie, whose real name is Adebayo Ridwan, extended the invitation during a conversation about Dangote’s media engagements and the need to connect with younger Nigerians interested in his business and its planned initial public offering (IPO).
The content creator noted that most of Dangote’s interviews had appeared on platforms that were not popular among younger audiences, despite their interest in his business.
“Most of the interviews we’ve seen you have been on platforms that my generation don’t watch,” he said.
Bae U Barbie clarified that he was not asking Dangote to dismiss his media team but urged him to consider appearing on the programme after completing his existing engagements.
Responding, Dangote acknowledged the importance of engaging younger Nigerians, describing them as the country’s future.
“Honestly, the future that we have is actually you, the youth. We, our own generation, really, we have not really done very well for Nigeria and also for Africa. That’s the truth,” he said.
The businessman said older Nigerians needed to share their experiences with younger people to help them understand the country’s history and development.
