Former presidential candidate, Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, says Nigeria’s problem is not capacity but the decline of patriotic leadership.
Olawepo-Hashim made this statement on Monday during a live appearance in an interview on Arise Television’s ‘Prime Time’.
According to him, Nigeria has never been this weak in terms of security and economy.
“Nigeria’s problem is a decline of patriotic leadership and not capacity. There was a time we deployed troops to Liberia to help end the crisis, and to Sierra Leone to stop brutal killings by rebel groups.
“We also played key roles in peacekeeping efforts in places like Darfur and beyond. That was a period of leadership that, despite its shortcomings, showed strong patriotism and positioned Nigeria as a stabilizing force across Africa and beyond.
“Today, it is less about lack of capacity and more about a decline in patriotism and national commitment,” he lamented.
