Dickson Announces NDC’s Primaries Waivers for Omo-Agege, Ochei
The National Democratic Congress (NDC), has announced primaries waivers for former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, and the former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei, who just defected into its folds.
National leader and founder of the party, Senator Seriake Dickson made the announcement for the high-profile defectors in a statement late Thursday.
While welcoming Omo-Agege and Ochei,  Senator Dickson, revealed that the party has already granted both political heavyweights immediate waivers to contest in tomorrow’s senatorial primaries in their respective districts.
“It was a pleasure to warmly receive Distinguished Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, CFR, former Deputy Senate President, into our great party, alongside Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei, former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly,” Dickson said.
He said,  “I am also pleased to announce that the NDC has not only received them warmly but has equally granted them waivers to contest in the senatorial primaries in their respective districts tomorrow. I wish them both the very best of luck.”
According to Dickson, the entry of Omo-Agege—a formidable political force in Delta State—and Ochei is the culmination of weeks of intense, strategic negotiations designed to alter the political landscape of the Niger Delta region.
“This development is the result of several weeks of consultations aimed at strengthening the foundations of our party in the South-South region and across the country,” the statement added.
The inclusion of Omo-Agege and Ochei is widely seen by analysts as a massive coup for the NDC, significantly boosting its footprints in Delta State and the wider South-South geopolitical zone just as the election cycle heats up.
Dickson called on all party faithful to embrace the new entrants and provide them with the necessary institutional backing.
“I urge everyone to warmly welcome them into our fast-growing family and extend to them the fullest support and cooperation,” Dickson added.
With the senatorial primaries scheduled for tomorrow, all eyes will now be on Delta State to see how the entry of these two juggernauts reshapes the internal dynamics of the NDC.
