Prominent Edo businesswoman and Chief Executive Officer of Hotel Doris Dey, Chief Lady Doris Oboh, has heaped praise on Governor Monday Okpebholo for his impressive strides in infrastructure and economic development across the state.

Speaking to journalists shortly after a private meeting with the Governor, Chief Oboh described Okpebholo as “God-sent,” especially to the residents of the Ikpoba-Hill axis, where the administration has begun the construction of the area’s first-ever flyover bridge.

“For decades, we felt abandoned. But with Governor Okpebholo, hope has returned,” she said. “This flyover is more than a bridge, it is a symbol of inclusion, of long-awaited attention, and of the Governor’s determination to bring development to areas long neglected.”

Oboh, who has resided in Ikpoba-Hill since 1963, described the area’s transformation as unprecedented. “No sentiment here. I am not a politician, I’m a self-made woman. And I can tell you with all sincerity, I have never witnessed this level of government presence until now,” she stated.

According to her, the Governor’s decision to visit Ikpoba-Hill shortly after assuming office was both symbolic and strategic. “He chose to begin from the forgotten places, and that speaks volumes about the kind of leader he is.”

She commended the administration’s ongoing road rehabilitation projects across the state, noting that the improved condition of major routes, including the Benin-Ekpoma and Benin-Iruekpen roads has significantly eased travel, boosted commerce, and reduced the risks for motorists.

“His collaboration with the Federal Government on critical roads has yielded quick results. Motorists are happy, traders are smiling, and businesses are thriving. This is what good governance looks like.”

Oboh also lauded Governor Okpebholo’s hands-on approach, praising his personal oversight of projects to ensure quality and timely delivery. “He keeps contractors on their toes, and the results speak for themselves; Edo is wearing a new face.”

Highlighting the central role of road infrastructure in economic development, she remarked, “Roads are the lifeblood of any economy, and this governor understands that. His commitment is not just repairing roads, but rebuilding confidence in governance.”

Chief Oboh concluded by scoring Governor Okpebholo an impressive 80 per cent for performance so far and called on all Edo people to support and pray for his continued success. “We have a leader who listens, acts, and delivers. Let’s stand with him as he redefines the development narrative in our state.”
