Governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the September 21 governorship election in Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has promised employ 5,000 new teachers within first 100 days in office if elected governor.
He made the promise Thursday in Auchi, during the flag-off of the party’s Edo North senatorial campaign. The region has six local government areas.
Campaigning with the tag: “A New Era for Education in Our State”, Okpebholo, speaking before a mammoth crowd of party faithful, said: “We can’t continue to deceive our people with contract jobs!
“It’s time for a change. Our people deserve job security and that’s exactly what we’ll deliver.
“We’re committed to transforming our education system, starting with the people who make it happen – our teachers.
“We’ll convert all contract teaching positions to permanent jobs, providing stability and dignity for those who shape our future.
“But that’s not all. We’ll also add more teachers to our schools, ensuring our children receive the quality education they deserve. It’s time to invest in our people and our future.
“Together, let’s build a brighter future for our state, where every child has access to excellent education and every teacher has a secure career.”
Other speakers at the rally include the running mate to Okpebholo, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, a past governor of the state, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, DG of the governorship campaign council, Senator Matthew Orhokhide, and other top leaders of the party within the zone.
The APC had earlier held similar rallies in Benin (Edo South) and in Uromi (Edo Central).
The party, by its published campaign schedule, moves into local government rallies across the state beginning today.
