In a bid to strengthen educational outcomes and address key student-related challenges in Edo State, the Senior Special Assistant to the Edo State Governor on Student Matters, Comrade Jimah Mubarak, held a strategic meeting in Abuja with the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Student Engagement.

The high-level engagement, which took place recently, focused on innovative policy direction and collaborative opportunities aimed at transforming the academic and socio-economic experience of Edo students.

“We engaged in meaningful discussions about innovative strategies to uplift Edo students and enhance their overall educational experience,” Comrade Mubarak said in a post-meeting statement.

According to him, the dialogue explored avenues for fostering synergy within the educational system, with both aides exchanging ideas on student welfare, policy implementation, and national-student relations.

“Our dialogue focused on fostering synergy within the educational system, addressing challenges faced by students, and exploring collaborative initiatives that can lead to positive changes,” he explained.

Comrade Mubarak expressed optimism about the outcomes of the deliberation, describing it as “productive and forward-thinking.”

“I am excited about the potential outcomes of our discussions and look forward to implementing solutions that will empower our students and support their development,” he added.

The meeting comes at a time when the Edo State Government, under the leadership of Governor Monday Okpebholo, is ramping up efforts to improve educational infrastructure and student welfare through strategic partnerships and reforms.

Observers believe this renewed push at intergovernmental collaboration—particularly between state and federal actors—could signal a more coordinated approach to addressing issues such as student empowerment, funding, skills development, and post-graduation opportunities.

“Together, we can create a brighter future for the youth of Edo State,” Comrade Mubarak affirmed.

The development has been welcomed by student leaders across the state, many of whom see it as a significant step toward ensuring that student voices are heard at the highest levels of government.
