Top figures and founding members of the Peoples Democratic (PDP) in Edo State, Wednesday continued their run-away from the party that has been their darling for over 25 years.

Leading the pack this week is Hon. Omoruyi Nosakhare, a prominent figure in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ovia South West, has officially resigned from the party.

Others are former commissioner for works in the state, Barrister Abas Momoh Jega, Monday Ihama, and Hon Kemi Aimufua.

Abas Momoh Jega, before he left the party, was of the Okpella Ward 6. His tales of woes are not  significantly different from those of other numerous leader who had equally left the party

In his resignation letter, Hon. Omoruyi cited significant concerns, including the dismissal of the College of Education, Iguorikhi staff members and what he described as impunity during the House of Assembly primary.

These issues, he argued, reflect deeper problems within the party that he can no longer overlook.

Hon. Omoruyi has been a dedicated member of the PDP since its inception, playing a critical role in its development and expansion in his locality.

As a founding member, his departure is particularly notable and signifies a substantial shift in the local political landscape. His decision to leave the party underscores the severity of his concerns regarding its current direction and leadership.

Throughout his career, Hon. Omoruyi has held numerous key positions within the PDP, demonstrating his commitment and influence.

He served as the Udo Ward Secretary, coordinating party activities and fostering political engagement at the grassroots level.

His tenure in this role was marked by efforts to strengthen the party’s presence and effectiveness in the ward.

Additionally, Hon. Omoruyi held the position of Ovia South West Treasurer, where he managed the party’s financial resources, ensuring transparency and accountability.

His financial stewardship was instrumental in supporting various party initiatives and campaigns within the local government area.

Beyond these roles, Hon. Omoruyi also served as the Youth Leader of Ovia South West Local Government.

His leadership was characterised by active youth mobilisation and advocacy for greater youth involvement in politics.

He championed numerous programs aimed at empowering young people and fostering their participation in the democratic process.

Furthermore, Hon. Omoruyi was one time Edo South Senatorial Youth Leader, where he extended his influence to a broader constituency.

In this capacity, he worked tirelessly to unite young people across the senatorial district, promoting political education and engagement.

His tenure was marked by initiatives aimed at enhancing youth representation and addressing their concerns within the political framework.

Hon. Omoruyi’s resignation from the PDP is a significant development, given his extensive contributions and longstanding commitment to the party.

His departure raises important questions about the future of the PDP in Ovia South West and potentially signals a period of realignment and change within the local political arena.
