On Tuesday, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Health Institutions, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, and the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Cyril Adams Oshiomhole, met with the leadership of the Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) where issues relating to their recent demands were extensively discussed.

Speaking during the meeting, the Commissioner for Health noted that His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, had already initiated steps to address the concerns raised by the doctors even before the issuance of the recent warning strike notice.

As part of immediate interventions, the Governor has directed the commencement of the procurement process for the renovation and upgrading of doctors’ quarters to improve their living and working conditions. Additionally, other welfare-related issues raised by the ARD are receiving due consideration and will be comprehensively resolved in line with the government’s broader health sector reform agenda.
